Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Annual Report

Janet Campbell, HR Director
The last year was unprecedented in terms of the uncertainty we all faced. In light of the global pandemic, the Black Lives Matter movement and the increase in gender-based violence, we knew that our centralised focus on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion contributed to the ongoing wellbeing of our colleagues across the Houses of Parliament Restoration and Renewal Programme.
I am pleased to present our first Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) annual report on behalf of the Sponsor Body and Delivery Authority. The report highlights key achievements in 2020-21 and the work we have done to create an equal, diverse and inclusive Programme. We continue to have a firm commitment to EDI, at all levels of our Programme, and we continue to work towards our objectives by focusing on accountability, behaviours and collaboration.
Our annual report is an important document, not only to monitor progress against our objectives and priorities, but it provides an opportunity to reflect and highlight achievements and celebrate our successes. From our results, we know we have a way to go to improve diverse representation across our organisations but as you can see, we have made a great start to remove barriers and create opportunities for all. This is essential to enable us to be a project for the whole nation.
Both Boards and Executive Committees of the Sponsor Body and Delivery Authority are committed to driving improvement in EDI for all our colleagues. We aim to attract the very best and most diverse talent to tackle the scale of work ahead of us.
Our report highlights some excellent work undertaken in the last year to proactively eliminate disadvantage and potential discrimination, advance equality of opportunity and to celebrate the diverse community of all those working on our historic project. It is important for each one of us to play our part in fostering a culture of respect and inclusion and to have those courageous conversations that enable us to make progress. It is important to me, as HR Director, to lead this area of work with authenticity and transparency so that we can create a safe, open and innovative work environment.
I look forward to next year’s report to detail the progress we have made. In the meantime, please take a look at our report, we are keen to hear your feedback and comments.
